Kathryn Blanchard is presently teaching at University of North Texas in the Language, Literacy, and Bilingual Education Program which is part of the Department of Teacher Education and Administration.  She has worked full time at UNT for four years and worked as an adjunct at UNT for ten years prior to that.  During that same ten year period, she worked at Lake Dallas ISD as a second grade teacher for four years, Reading Recovery for three years, and district Grant Writer and Coordinator during much of that ten year period.  She was given an Award for Outstanding Teaching in the UNT College of Education for the 2007-2008 academic year.

Additional experiences in Higher Education include teaching at Defiance College in Defiance, Ohio, serving as a Teaching Fellow at University of Houston, and teaching summer courses at Le Moyne College.  Elementary experiences include full time teaching in kindergarten, second grade, fourth grade, and sixth grade reading, and extensive substitute teaching experience.   Dr. Blanchard has served as president of the UNT/TWU chapter of Phi Delta Kappa for two years and has served in other offices of the chapter for five years.
