A graduate of New York University's Interactive Telecommunications program (M.P.S., Summa Cum Laude), Dekel is a specialist in developing new media applications for Peace Education. To this effect he is helping the Peres Center for Peace in Israel develop a Peace Information Technology Incubator. Dekel, who also holds an M.A. in Cognitive Psychology (Summa Cum Laude) focuses on creative uses of new media for interaction and experience design and teaches physical computing at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design and interactive cinema at Tel-Aviv University.
Dekel was the founding director of the Digital Media Program at the Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya, where students under his supervision won international awards for their creative work. Previously, he was in charge for building prize winning web sites for the New York Times (Pulitzer nominated website about Bosnia), the Discovery Channel (Award of Excellence in Information Design, Communication Arts Design Annual), and the Rolling Stones.
